Conditions worth knowing
- Marketed as a single "Air Conditioning" rebate covering both straight-cool systems and heat pumps; only the heat pump tiers are recorded here, since a straight-cool replacement adds no heating capability.
- The existing system being replaced must be at least 10 years old, and the home itself must be at least 10 years old.
- New equipment is not eligible if the equipment it replaces already received an Austin Energy rebate within the last 10 years.
- All components of the system (condenser, furnace/air handler, and evaporative coil) must be replaced together to qualify.
- Installer must size the system to ACCA Manual J or Austin Energy's own sizing guidance, and proof of sizing must be submitted.
- An Austin Energy participating contractor must install the system and submit the rebate application within 90 days of installation.
- Customers who enroll in Austin Energy's Home Energy Savings whole-home program within 6 months of receiving this rebate can qualify for an additional $200, not itemized here.
- Systems with electric resistance heating elements are excluded.
