Conditions worth knowing
- Duke Energy also runs this same Smart $aver brand in South Carolina, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Florida, each on its own jurisdiction-specific rebate schedule — only North Carolina is recorded here so far.
- The amounts below are the "Replace on Failure" tier for projects completed after August 1, 2025. Duke separately publishes Early Replacement, Conversion and Multifamily tiers, which typically pay more; those are not yet recorded here.
- Equipment must be AHRI-certified with an ECM motor, installed by a participating contractor, and duct sealing is specifically required alongside the starred replacements.
- Customer must be a Duke Energy residential electric customer in a single/multi-family home, condominium, mobile home on a permanent foundation, townhome or duplex.
- Applications and supporting documentation must be submitted and approved within 60 days of the service date.
- Also covers a smart thermostat ($125) and central air conditioner ($200–$400 by SEER2 tier), not recorded here as neither is heat-pump technology.
