Conditions worth knowing
- Household must include a verified participant in MaineCare, HEAP, SNAP or TANF.
- Must be the first heat pump at the residence — an existing heat pump disqualifies you.
- The home must not have a natural gas utility account.
- Owner-occupied principal residence: single-family house, two-unit duplex, condominium, or mixed-use building with one or two housing units and no commercial electrical meter.
- Single-zone system only (one indoor unit to one outdoor unit).
- Must be installed by an Efficiency Maine Residential Registered Vendor for Heat Pumps.
- Claim form must be emailed or postmarked within six months of project completion.
- Counts toward the housing unit's lifetime maximum rebate.
- HEAP households are encouraged to check with Maine Housing about an installation covering all costs.
