Conditions worth knowing
- Maryland has no single statewide heat pump rebate. EmPOWER Maryland is delivered by each utility, so the schedule depends on who serves your address — BGE, Pepco, Delmarva, Potomac Edison or SMECO.
- Additional incentives may be available for customers switching from natural gas, oil or propane.
- All equipment must be AHRI rated, except smart thermostats.
- Air source heat pumps qualify at Tier 1 (SEER2 15.2 with HSPF2 6.7 single package, or 7.5 split system) or Tier 2 (SEER2 16.9 with the same HSPF2 floors).
- Cold climate air source heat pumps qualify at SEER2 15.2 and HSPF2 8.1, single package or split.
- Ductless heat pumps: multi-zone at SEER2 15.5 and HSPF2 7.5; single zone at SEER2 18 and HSPF2 7.5.
- Geothermal closed loop requires 17.1 EER and 3.6 COP.
- Funded by the EmPOWER Maryland charge on your energy bill.
