Conditions worth knowing

• The current rebate year covers equipment purchased new and installed between October 1, 2025 and September 30, 2026. Work completed after that date falls outside this offer.
• Switching from gas to electric pays about four times what replacing existing electric equipment pays — the same heat pump is worth $1,000 or $4,000 depending only on what it replaced.
• Must be installed by a DC licensed contractor. Cooling rebates require a DC Master Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic license; water heating rebates require a DC Master Plumber license.
• Installation is verified by a submitted Department of Buildings permit — mechanical for heat pumps and air conditioning, plumbing for water heating. Window air conditioners need only proof of purchase.
• The administrator states that rebate amounts are subject to change and that its own table is the authoritative version.
