Conditions worth knowing
- This is the higher of Connecticut's two heat pump rebates, and which one you get depends entirely on what you are replacing: fossil fuel or electric resistance heat qualifies here, swapping one heat pump for another does not.
- The rate changed mid-year. Installations between January 1 and August 31, 2026 are paid at $1,000 per ton; installations from September 1, 2026 are paid at $1,500 per ton.
- Incentive period runs January 1 to December 31, 2026.
- Residential electric customers of Eversource and United Illuminating only.
- Equipment must be on the Energize CT Heat Pump Qualified Product List and installed by a contractor in the Energize CT Heat Pump Installer Network.
- Tonnage is AHRI cooling capacity divided by 12,000 BTU, to two decimal places — so the payment depends on a rating, not on what the system cost.
- Projects are selected at random for inspection, and failing to complete a required inspection forfeits the rebate.
- Separate instant discounts may exist at the point of sale through the New England Heat Pump Accelerator, which Energize CT does not administer.
