Conditions worth knowing
- This is a free-upgrade program for income-qualified homeowners and renters, not a rebate. SCE says that if you qualify it covers the cost, including installation by an authorized contractor, of upgrades such as a heat pump water heater replacement, or of appliances such as a refrigerator, clothes washer or dishwasher.
- Eligibility rests on household income guidelines or participation in certain public assistance programs. An SCE-approved contractor collects the information SCE uses to decide which upgrades a household qualifies for.
- The work may be inspected afterwards, and SCE says work that does not meet its standards is redone at no cost to you.
- Two related offers sit beside it: a Building Electrification program that replaces natural gas appliances with high-efficiency electric equipment, handled through MAROMA Energy Services, and ESA Whole Home, a pilot run jointly with SoCalGas with its own eligibility requirements.
- SCE's rebates page does not list a heat pump rebate paid by SCE itself. It points to Golden State Rebates instant coupons, the Home Performance Plus program for customers in disadvantaged or low-income communities, and the Switch Is On incentive finder.
